
SEWANEE, Tenn. - Sewanee softball was unable to scratch across a run in Saturday's series finale to Centre College, falling to the Colonels, 7-0, from the Tiger Softball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Centre opened the contest with a four-run first inning before adding two runs in the third to make it a 6-0 lead.
-Sewanee only placed four runners on base the entire game. In the third, the Tigers had an opportunity to break the shutout. After a leadoff single by Charlsey Shirey, she advanced to third after a bunt sacrifice by Amanda Watters and a groundout by Katie Roth.
-Jackie O'Reilly made it more interesting with a two-out walk, but the rally would be shortlived thanks to a pop up.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Charlsey Shirey notched the lone hit for the Purple and Gold, while Rachel Hoffman drew two walks.
-Caroline Sweetin (0-4) allowed four first inning runs on four hits.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Melissa Collins scorched a double and a home run to cap a 2-for-4 Saturday with an RBI.
-Erika Brewer (6-2) tossed a one-hit shutout for Centre, walking three and striking out five.
UP NEXT
Before packing the bags and heading to Florida, the Tigers will host Blackburn (Ill.) in a double dip Thursday beginning at noon.
