Centre completes sweep of Sewanee

DANVILLE, Ky. (April 2, 2017) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre completed a three-game sweep of the Sewanee softball team, Sunday.

The Tigers dropped a 12-3 decision at South Campus Field.

Sewanee did lead early as the Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Caroline Sweetin continued her great season with a two-RBI hit. Sweetin added another hit, a double, and one more RBI as Sewanee scored in the top of the fifth.

Centre earned the win with five runs in the second and seven in the third.

Along with Sweetin, Katie Roth had multiple hits while Taylor Wagner and Sydney Leibfritz also reached with a single.

Charlotte Mabbs led Centre with a 3-for-3 effort. Mabbs drove in three and scored twice. Two of her hits were for extra bases, one double and one triple.

Sewanee returns to action with a doubleheader against Berea, Sunday.
