Sewanee goes 1-2 after its first three games in Florida

LEESBURG, Fla. (March 18, 2017) – The Sewanee softball team posted a 1-2 record after its first three games during its spring break trip in Florida.

The Tigers lost a 19-2 contest against Macalester on Friday afternoon. The Tigers then won for the first time in 2017 with an 8-4 victory against Lasell. Sewanee then dropped a 7-3 game against Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday morning.

Rachel Hoffman is 6-for-8 in her last eight at-bats. Hoffman has three RBI and hit the Tigers' first homerun this season in the win against Lasell. A spot above her in the lineup, Taylor Wagner is 4-for-7 over the last three games with three RBI.

Additionally, Sydney Leibfritz was 1-for-2 with an RBI in the win against Lasell. Inside the circle, Leibfritz earned the complete-game victory after she allowed only eight hits and struck out four.

Other notable performances over the first two days have come from Amanda Watters and Katie Roth. Watters is 4-for-6 with an RBI the last two contests while Roth is 2-for-4 with an RBI and two doubles.

Sewanee continues its week-long trip with games against Clarkson, Elmhurst, and Northwestern Ohio the next two days.
