Legrone Named All-Region, Tigers Conclude Season at South/Southeast Region Championships

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The 2017 cross country season concluded on Saturday with the 2017 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championships. All runners in Saturday's meet ran new personal bests.

MEN PERFORMERS
-Owen Legrone earned All-Region (top 50 runners in the region) with a 25:31.9, good for 35th place finish out of 220 runners.
-Ash Midyett ran to a 95th place finish with a 26:40.2 finish, while Ben Murray came across the finish line at 26:45.6.
-Other times to wrap up the field: Bram Atkings (27:05.8). Jack Barganier (27:24.3), Henry Fisher (28:34.7) and Rob Mohr (28:37.4).
-Sewanee finished in a tie for 17th place out of 32 teams in the 8K race, but UT Tyler, also finishing with 477 points, won the tiebreak with more runners crossing before Sewanee's crossed.

WOMEN PERFORMERS
-The Tigers finished 23rd out of 32 region teams with a score of 589, averaging 24:55, in the 6K event.
-Tricia Murphy ran a 24:05.9 for a 90th place finish out of 240 runners, while Elizabeth Haberstroh ran a 24:50.3 time, good for 126th place.
-Hannah Faulkner ran to a 24:55.8 finish, while Ann Chapman Hayes crossed the finish line at 25:17.0.
-Other times to wrap up the field: Sarah Carlton (25:25.1), Evans Ousley (25:35.3) and Adriana Hibarra (25:48.7).
