Sewanee wins the Berry Invitational after three Tigers finish in the top-10

ROME, Ga. (Oct. 15, 2016)  Led by three runners in the top-10, the Sewanee men's cross country team won the Berry Invitational, Saturday.

Along with the men's win, the women's team finished ninth.

With an average time of 26:31.82, the Tigers edged runner up and host Berry with 56 points. The Vikings finished with 84 points while Emory came in third with a 145 total. NCAA Division I scholarship programs Jacksonville State and Mercer completed the top-five. In total, Sewanee defeated 18 other programs.

Mark McAlister led Sewanee with a fifth-place finish. The senior captain finished the 8k course in a time of 25:59.10. Logan Stockton was just behind his teammate in ninth place with a time of 26:18.77 while Jackson Goodwin was 10th with a mark of 26:24.94.

Owen Legrone also ran well with a time of 26:41.44. His finish counted only 11 points toward the team score while Ash Midyett crossed the finish line in 34th (27:14.82).

On the women's side, senior Katie Jannotta led the Tigers with a time of 24:16.02. Her 24th place finish was ahead of Charlotte Turner (67th/25:53.44) and Elizabeth Haberstroh (70th/25:57.06).

With its regular season wrapped up, Sewanee will now prepare for the SAA Championships in Clinton, Miss., on Saturday, October 29th.
