Tigers continue early season success on a hot morning at Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 24, 2016)  Competing against NCAA Division I scholarship programs, the Sewanee men and women's cross country teams both performed well at the Austin Peay meet, Saturday, at Hilldale Family Life Center.

On the women's side, Katie Jannotta finished under 20 minutes in her first-ever 5k race. Elizabeth Haberstroh and Hannah Faulkner followed her on the most traditional course the Tigers have competed on this fall.

In the men's race, both Jackson Goodwin and Mark McAlister were in the top-15 before a mix-up by the race marshal with just under 400m remaining. As the top group of runners came down toward the finish line, Goodwin and around 12 other student-athletes were sent the wrong direction. McAlister was just behind that group, however, he was informed of the error and quickly turned around. Unfortunately, McAlister lost 45 seconds on his final time due to the miscue.

After that fiasco, Logan Stockton, Owen Legrone, and Chris Hornsby were the Tigers' top finishers.

Complete results will be posted when they are received.
