Sewanee Mountain Laurel Invitational

TRACK:     The track is a eight lane, 400 meter, Conica SP ½” urethane surface with red structural spray and 42" lanes.  Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault approach runways are also Conica urethane surfaced.  The Shot Put, Hammer and Discus circles are cement.

SPIKES:     Athletes may use 1/8 or 1/4 inch pyramid spikes only.  Pin spikes will not be allowed.  If an athlete is found using pin spikes or spikes longer than 1/4 inch, he/she will be disqualified from the meet.

ELIGIBILITY:     The Mountain Laurel Invitational is open to undergraduate college students only.  Open athletes or graduate students allowed only by special permission.

ENTRIES:           

• Entries are unlimited.

• Entries must be submitted at the following website:  www.directathletics.com

• ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY TUESDAY, April  16th, AT MIDNIGHT EST.

• Late entries and phone entries will not be accepted.

 

ENTRY FEE:     The entry fee will be $25 per athlete with a maximum of $200 per team ($400 total for men's and women's teams).  Make checks payable to The University of the South.  Entry fees are not refundable and are due before athletes can participate.

DECLARATIONS:     Final scratches must be made by Thursday, April 18 at Noon.     Additional entries will not be taken at this time, only your final scratches.

HEAT SHEETS:     Heats and lanes will be drawn after the entries are received and will be available when athletes check in for their event.

WEIGHTS AND MEASURES:     All implements need to be inspected between 12:30 and 2:00 p.m. Friday at the outdoor track storage area.  Implements not passing inspection will be held until the throwing competitions are complete.

TIMING:     Hytek fully automatic timing done by EXACT TIMING.

RULES:     The meet will be conducted under NCAA rules.

SCORING:     This meet will be scored according to NCAA rules.

AWARDS:      We will present awards to each event winner and the team winner for each gender.

STARTING            High Jump - Women - 1.30m (4’ 3.25”), Men - 1.65m (5’ 5”)

HEIGHTS:            Pole Vault - Women - 2.15m (7’ .5”), Men - 3.05m (10’)

POLE VAULT:     We do not currently have an outdoor pole vault pit.  Therefore, the pole vault will be contested at our indoor facility in the Fowler Center.

LOCKER ROOMS:      Locker rooms and showers are available in the Fowler Center. Please bring your own towels.  The University of the South is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.

TRAINERS:     Trainers and training facilities will be available in the Fowler Center and on the outdoor track.  Please bring your own supplies.

FOOD:     The dining hall is available for team or individual meals.  Please call Sewanee Dining Service in advance to make arrangements for team meals, 931/598-1120.

MEET PACKETS:     Meet packets may be picked up Friday at the press box.

INCLEMENT WEATHER:  Our indoor track and field facility will be available for team camps in case of bad weather.
