ATLANTA - Announced by the Southern Athletic Association on Monday, six track and field student-athletes were named to the All-Conference Team after their performances at the 2019 SAA Track and Field Championships.
Ash Midyett was selected as the First Team, while Clay McKnight, Letherio Jones, Ford McGovern and Erbie Jennings were tabbed to the Second Team. Kelsie Schiavone was also listed as an Honorable Mention.
Midyett earns his third All-SAA honor in the 800 meters in as many years, and he earns his second First Team selection. The Fairhope, Ala. native ran a career-best 1:55.40 time in the event. The junior is ranked 10th in the South/Southeast region in the event.
Midyett also helped earn Second Team honors for Jones, McGovern and Jennings in the 4x400 relay. The quartet ran to a second place finish of 3:24.88. The time is 13th-best in the region. Jones collects his second straight All-Conference selection in the event.
McKnight finished second in the 5,000 meters at the Championships with an 18:25.82 time to earn her first All-SAA selection for the sophomore. The Augusta, Ga. native added the 5K run to her repertoire this season on the track in addition to running the 1,500 meters and the 4x400 relay.
Schiavone broke the school record in the preliminaries of the 400 meters before earning All-SAA honors in the final with a 58.19-second performance. The Danville, Ky. native stands fourth in the South/Southeast region with a 58.08-second time. The senior earns her second All-Conference selection after earning an Honorable Mention in the 4x400 relay last season.
