USTFCCCA Release

NEW ORLEANS - The 2018 Sewanee Track and Field teams are one of 106 men's teams and 185 women's teams that have been selected as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Thursday.

In order to be in contention, a program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.

The Sewanee women's team finished with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.38, while the men's team compiled a 3.21 GPA.

Joining Sewanee from the Southern Athletic Association to the All-Academic Team is Berry and Rhodes, and both school's male and female teams were each selected.

In total, 291 teams were honored for their academics by the USTFCCCA.

Breaking it down further, 185 of those were women's teams compared to 106 men's programs.

The highest cumulative GPA of any team belonged to Knox College's women. The Prairie Fire maintained a 3.80 GPA under head coach Randy Overby.

When it comes to men's teams, MIT had the best GPA of the bunch at 3.63.
