Sewanee Opens Competition at the SAA Championships

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee track and field teams opened play at the Southern Athletic Association Championships on Friday.

WOMEN TOP PERFORMERS
-Kelsie Schiavone qualified for the finals of the 400 meter dash, running to the tune of 1:01.50, earning third in the heat.

-Meredith Stuber qualified for Saturday's 200 meter final with a 26.82-second finish in the heat.

-Running Saturday includes Clay McKnight, Tricia Murphy and Hannah Faulkner in the 1,500 meters. Murphy will also run the 800 meters.

-Saturday's field events include Karagan Day on the javelin and triple jump, Meredith Stuber on the high jump, Katie Hall and Rachel Hudson throwing the discus.

MEN TOP PERFORMERS
-Calid Shorter finished second in his heat in the 100 meters, sprinting to a time of 11.12 seconds.

-On the track, Sewanee will have Owen Legrone, Rob Ritchie, Rob Mohr and Adam Steed in the 5,000 meters and Ash Midyett and Daniel Munoz in the 800 meters.

-On the field, Dillon Spann and Wilson Lewis will compete in the high jump.
