Stockton's win in the 5000 meters sparks Sewanee at Victor ice Breaker Duals

ROME, Ga. (March 4, 2017) – Led by Logan Stockton, the Sewanee track and field teams performed well at their first outdoor meet of the 2017 season.

Stockton earned the Tigers' only win in the men's 5000 meters at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals on the campus of Berry College. His time of 15:32.91 topped the 35-man field. Teammate Mark McAlister finished fourth with a time of 15:47.69.

Both McAlister and Stockton, along with Jack Barganier and Rob Ritchie, all set personal best times.

In the women's 1500 meters, junior Tricia Murphy performed well with a fourth place finish. Murphy was just behind winner Abby Carroll of Berry with a time of 5:16.74.

In the shorter distance races, Ash Midyett and Davis Couch had great finishes in the 800 meters and 400-meter hurdles. In the 800, Midyett finished fourth with a time of 1:57.79 while in the 400 hurdles, Couch was fourth at 1:01.08.

The final top finish for the Tigers came in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase. Senior L'Or Puymartin finished second in 12:13.68 behind winner Bethany Terpin of host Berry.

Finally, Chris Hornsby (800m), Hannah Faulkner (1500m), Kelsie Schiavone (200m/400m), along with Will Dubose (pole vault) all set additional PRs.
