Sewanee opens season with a number of great performance at annual Tiger Indoor Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 11, 2017) – The Sewanee men and women's track and field teams opened their 2017 indoor season with a number of great performances at the annual Tiger Indoor Invitational, Saturday.

In the team competition, the men's squad finished seventh while on the women's side, Sewanee finished 11th.

In the women's field events, freshman Haven Watson finished seventh in the long jump. Her best attempt was at 4.65m. In the women's track races, sophomore Katie Hall finished fifth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 10.89 seconds.

In the men's events, freshman Ash Midyett finished second in the 800 meters. His time of 2:04.20 was just behind winner Daniel Burnett of Mississippi College (2:04.05).

The other top finisher on the day was Will DuBose in the men's pole vault. DuBose's best attempt of 3.95m actually tied David Campbell of Birmingham-Southern for second place.

Additionally, the men's 4X400 meter relay team of Dillon Spann, Midyett, Jake Crabtree, and Davis Couch finished with a second-place time of 3:48.78.
