SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Sewanee hosted the Tiger Indoor Invitational today at the Fowler Center Sewanee’s limited squad (injury, illness) was highlighted by Sewanee sprinters Allan Long (Signal Mountain, Tenn., McCallie) and Chalankis Brown (Millbrook, Ala., Stanhope Elmore) setting school records and thrower Leisha Meade (Sevierville, Tenn., Pigeon Forge) setting a PR in the shot, good for second among Division III throwers and sixth overall.
Long tied for first place in the 55m hurdles (7.87) with Mississippi College’s Al Winsley to break his own school record. He was also ninth in the long jump (19-08). Brown placed second in the 55 meter dash with a 6.55 mark, breaking his own school record. Brown was the first Division III runner to finish and topped runners from DI South Alabama and Samford. Brown was also fourth in the 200 meter dash with a mark of 24.19.
Meade highlighted the Sewanee women’s effort with a shot put toss of 34-11, which was good for sixth place and second among DIII schools. This was a new personal best for Meade.
The Sewanee men placed seventh and the Sewanee women were ninth, competing against many Division I schools, including Troy State, Tennessee Tech and South Alabama.
