ATLANTA - Announced on Monday by the Southern Athletic Association, six Sewanee student-athletes have been chosen to the annual All-SAA Team. Additionally, Andres Carro (Player of the Year), Brandon Kali (Newcomer of the Year) and Felix Mann (Coach of the Year) swept the major conference postseason awards.
Along with Carro (First Team) and Kali (Second Team) on the All-Conference team includes Jack Gray on the First Team and Jordan Brewer on the Second Team. Jack Metzger and Fletcher Kerr each were selected as an Honorable Mention.
Carro posted a 10-win season at the No. 1 flight for Sewanee for the junior, including taking a victory over No. 24 Patrick Whaling of Gustavus Adolphus.
Earning his third All-Conference selection, including back-to-back All-SAA First Team honors, the Memphis, Tenn. native is ranked sixth in the Atlantic South region.
Carro is the third recipient of the conference's Player of the Year, joining Jack Gray, who won the award last season, and Avery Schober, who won the award in 2014 and 2015.
Kali posted a 12-8 record, including a 5-2 record at the No. 4 flight in singles. The freshman from Marietta, Ga. went undefeated in conference play.
In doubles, the All-SAA Second Team member posted an 11-6 record, 10-5 this past spring.
Kali becomes the first Newcomer of the Year for Sewanee since Jack Gray took the award in 2016. He becomes the fourth player to achieve this feat.
Gray earns his third straight All-SAA First Team selection and has earned an All-Conference honor in each of his four seasons with Sewanee. The Chattanooga, Tenn. native posted a 14-7 mark in singles, including a 9-5 mark at the No. 2 flight. In doubles, he led the team with 16 wins. Finishing with a 16-8 record, the senior has 76 doubles wins in his career.
Brewer led the team with 15 singles wins as he earns his second straight All-SAA Second Team selection and his third overall for the junior. Finishing with a 15-7 record in singles, the McKinney, Texas native added 13 wins in doubles.
Metzger, a sophomore from Duluth, Ga., won seven of his 11 singles matches at the No. 6 flight, finishing with a 7-3 record at the point. Recording an 11-5 singles record, the two-time All-SAA Honorable Mention recorded a 7-7 doubles mark.
Kerr earned a 9-3 mark in singles and a 7-4 record in doubles for the Denver, Colo. native. The senior earns his first All-SAA selection, as he currently has 63 wins in both singles and doubles.
Mann earns his first Coach of the Year honor after recording Sewanee to a 21-win season and the team's seventh straight SAA Regular Season and Tournament Championship.
Taking over the reigns from John Shackelford, who was elevated to the position of Director of Tennis last summer, Mann finished 10-1 at the Bruton-Guerry Tennis Center and went undefeated in conference play.
The men's team has won 20 straight regular season matches and the program has never lost in the SAA Tournament in the seven-year existence of the conference.
Sewanee finished the regular season earning its seventh straight Southern Athletic Association Tournament Championship and will enter the NCAA Tournament with a 21-6 record.
