SEWANEE, Tenn. - The 19th-ranked Sewanee men's tennis team prepares for the 2018 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships, with the first three rounds hosted by Emory in Atlanta. The Tigers will open tournament play on Saturday against N.C. Wesleyan at 1 p.m. CT.
HOW SWEET IT IS: After securing its sixth consecutive Southern Athletic Association Championship, the 22-5 Tigers enters its 16th NCAA Tournament. Since the turn of the century, Sewanee has been selected to the Championships 10 times.
#SewaneeW NUMBER 550 FOR SHACK: In the SAA Semifinals vs. Rhodes on April 21, SAA Coach of the Year John Shackelford earned his 550th career win in a 5-1 victory over the Lynx.
DUBS AGAINST NATIONALLY-RANKED TEAMS: Sewanee finished 6-5 against nationally-ranked opponents. Three of the five losses on the year have come down to the deciding point.
QUALIFYING FOR SINGLES: Jack Gray, currently 12-5 on the year, will continue his season at the 2018 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championships May 24-26 from Claremont, Calif. The Chattanooga native recorded a 4-2 mark against nationally-ranked opponents and 8-3 vs. regionally-ranked foes.
