TEMPE, Ariz. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced on Thursday its latest Oracle/ITA National and Regional rankings for NCAA Division III. Sewanee men's tennis climbed two spots to No. 20, while the women's team remains outside the top 10 at No. 11.
The men's team returns to the top-20 for the first time in a year, when the program was No. 18. Entering the final weekend of the regular season, the Tigers are 17-4 and are winners of their last seven matches.
Currently 5-0 and on pace for their sixth consecutive regular season Southern Athletic Association Regular Season Championship, the team moved up to fourth in the Atlantic South region, the team has won 91 singles matches and 45 doubles matches this spring.
Jack Gray remained fourth in the region in singles. Posting a 10-3 overall record. He recorded his 10th win of the year against Diego Marti-Veniz, 6-4, 7-6 (2), on March 31. He is 36-17 overall in singles and is 57-19 in doubles play in his career.
In doubles, Gray and Alejandro Becker fall to seventh in the region rankings. The duo is 10-5 on the year.
The women's team remains at 11th in the country with a 17-4 clip and are currently riding an eight-match winning streak.
Ranked third inside the region, the team is undefeated in conference and have not allowed a point, outscoring their opponents, 37-0.
Clementina Davila remains third in the region and is 13-3 on the year, winning her last four dual matches.
Christina Merchant dropped one spot to No. 15 in the Atlantic South, posting an 11-5 record.
Ellie Czura enters the region rankings at No. 25. Winning her last five matches, the sophomore is 11-6 on the season.
The Tigers continue action this weekend on Saturday with a contest at Berry College.
