Sewanee blanks Milsaps 5-0 to advance to Sunday’s championship match

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (April 30, 2016) – The No. 36 ranked Sewanee men's tennis team advanced to its fourth straight Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championship match with a 5-0 win over Millsaps, Saturday, at Old Fort Park.

The Tigers are now 17-6 overall and have won four straight matches. Additionally, Sewanee has won 13 of its past 14 contests.

In doubles action, Avery Schober and Fletcher Kerr defeated Emerson Brundick and Cooper Cearley 8-1 at No. 2. At No. 1, Eric Roddy and Jack Gray, along with Davis Owen and Scott Gallimore at No 3, both won their matches by a score of 8-6.

As singles play started Roddy pushed Sewanee's lead to 4-0 win a 6-4, 6-1 win over Alex Centurion at No. 2.

Finally, Schober topped Diego Marti-Vertiz at No. 1, 6-2, 6-3. Sewanee was also leading on courts three, four, five, and six when the match concluded.

The Tigers will play Birmingham-Southern who defeated Oglethorpe, 5-3.
