Tennis teams awarded prestigious ITA South Regionals

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Aug. 30, 2013) – The Sewanee men and women’s tennis teams have been awarded the prestigious ITA South Regionals, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced, Friday.

The Tigers will play host and participate in the three-day event that features over 90 participants and some of the nation’s best NCAA Division III players.

The men’s regional will take place September 20-22, while the women’s event will run from September 27-29.

In the past couple of years, Emory University has played host to the South Regionals. However, with the new upgrades to the Guerry Tennis Center, Sewanee will boast one of the top NCAA Division III tennis facilities in the nation. In return, that helped the Tigers land both South Regionals.

Currently, the Tigers’ facility is being upgraded with two new courts and new stadium-style seating.
