Freshman Schober wins his NCAA Tournament match to earn All-American honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. (May 22, 2014) – Sewanee freshman men's tennis student-athlete Avery Schober earned his first All-American honor with an NCAA Men's Tennis Round of 32 win Thursday on the campus of Claremont Mudd Scripps.

Schober opened his first-ever NCAA Tournament with a come-from-behind victory against Noah Sprinkel of Coe. After losing the first set 2-6, Schober rallied back in the second with a 6-1 victory. In the third and final frame, the SAA Player and Newcomer of the Year topped Sprinkel 6-4.
