Sewanee extends SAA winning streak to 15, tops Rhodes 6-3

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (April 6, 2014) – The Sewanee men's tennis team won its 15 straight Southern Athletic Association (SAA) match with a 6-3 victory at rival Rhodes, Sunday, at the Dunavant Tennis Center.

In a rematch of the 2013 SAA Championship, Rhodes was able to win two of out three doubles points.

Despite a strong crowd for the Lynx, Sewanee responded in singles.

Connor Winkler opened the comeback with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 against Albert Vacheron.

Rand Jackson then gave the Tigers the lead at 3-2 with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Colin Perry at No. 2.

Eric Roddy then breezed past Greyson Brilliant at No. 4 with a 6-4, 6-3 win.

No. 1 singles player Avery Schober then closed out his match against Eliot Blatt at 6-1, 6-3.

Finally, Alex Cooper defeated Graham Sowden at No. 6 by a score of 6-4, 6-1.

The No. 9 regional-ranked Tigers will take on non-conference member Covenant with a 3:00 p.m. (EST) match Tuesday.
