Tigers close out California trip with 7-2 win over Salisbury

CLAREMONT, Calif. (March 19, 2014) – The Sewanee men's tennis team closed out its spring break trip to California with a 7-2 win over Salisbury, Wednesday.

After an 8-3 loss at No. 1 doubles, Rand Jackson and Eric Roddy tied the match with a No. 2 doubles win against Demetri Vrahnos and Shane Gunther. After that 8-2 victory, Scott Gilmore and Alex Cooper topped Matthew McGaffney and Shanon Gunther 8-5.

In singles action, Avery Schober won over Daniel Albers at No. 1 6-3, 6-4. Connor Winkler then defeated Eric Spangler at No. 2 by 6-4 set wins.

Jackson then won against Vrahno at No. 3 7-5, 6-4 and then Roddy breezed past Gunther with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Cooper was the final win of the day for Sewanee. Cooper defeated Gunther by a 6-3, 6-3 score. 

The Tigers continue their road trip with a 2:00 p.m. (EST) match at No. 7 Emory.
