Despite outstanding effort, Sewanee falls against No. 5 Kenyon

SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 1, 2014) – Despite an outstanding effort, the Sewanee men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision against No. 5 Kenyon, Saturday, at the Bruton-Guerry Tennis Center.

After winning all three doubles points, the Lords opened with a 6-2, 6-3 win by Sam Geier against Connor Winkler at No. 2.

Wade Heerboth then topped Avery Schober at No. 1 6-3, 6-4.

The Tigers then took their first point of the afternoon, as Eric Roddy defeated Nick Fiashetti at No. 4 in a close 7-5, 7-6 (2) contest.

Unfortunately, Kenyon had victories by Davis Thrailkill, and Jacob Huber.

The final win by Sewanee came by Scott Gallimore as he outlasted Tristan Kate at No. 5 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.

Sewanee returns to action in one week with a 9:00 a.m. (EST) match at Transylvania and a 10:00 a.m. (EST) contest at Centre.
