Men’s tennis falls in shortened USTA/ITA Regionals

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 21, 2013) – After inclement weather forced the USTA/ITA South Regionals to be shortened Saturday, the Sewanee men's tennis team failed to advance to Sunday's final two rounds.

Despite playing well on Friday, Sewanee could not get past some of the top players in each draw.

In the Main Draw Singles bracket, the top-four seeds all advanced. For Sewanee, Rand Jackson dropped his third round contest against Rocco English of Emory in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Teammate Eric Roddy also lost in the third round when second-seeded Eric Halpern of Emory won in consecutive 6-1 sets.

In the Main Doubles bracket, the Tiger duo of Connor Winkler and Avery Schober lost to Jackson Issacs and Ayush Bajoria of Emory by a score of 8-2.

Because of the rain, the South Draw and B Doubles Draw were both canceled.
