Tigers roll past Rhodes and Hendrix

SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 7, 2013) – The Sewanee men's tennis team earned a pair of wins over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) programs Rhodes and Hendrix this past weekend.

The Tigers first earned victories over the Lynx by a close score of 5-4. Then, on Sunday, Sewanee rolled past the Warriors, 8-1.

Individually, Sean Laughlin led the way with three wins. Laughlin earned a pair of doubles wins with teammate Logan Rafield and then defeated A.J. Jaiz of Hendrix, Sunday.

Additionally, Eric Roddy and Connor Winkler also won three matches. Both players earned two singles victories while teaming up with each other for a doubles win against Hendrix.

Senior Levi Joy also earned three victories. After two doubles wins with Trapp Tubbs and classmate Grant Hopkins, the Brock, Texas native earned a singles win against Rhodes.

Speaking of Hopkins, the Memphis, Tenn., native earned an individual win against Udai Garmella of Hendrix by a singles score of 6-1, 6-1.

Finally, freshman Charles Colhoun won also earned a straight set singles win against Hendrix, Sunday.

Sewanee will return to action when the Tigers host the defending NCAA Division III National Champion Emory at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday. Currently, the Eagles are ranked third in the latest ITA poll.
