NORFOLK, Va. - The Sewanee men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been selected as a member of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams for the spring semester.
This is the 49th consecutive semester that both teams have been honored with the award.
The women's team finished with a 3.47 cumulative grade point average for the fall, while the men's team recorded a 3.33 GPA.
In total, 710 teams earned the distinction of Scholar All-America team for the Fall 2017 semester. The teams represent 476 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions. The CSCAA recognizes teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Transylvania's women's team and Caltech's men led Division III programs with twelve or more participants.
The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) saw all six women's teams collect the academic achievement: Berry, Birmingham-Southern, Centre, Hendrix, Rhodes and Sewanee, as well as five men's teams: Berry, Birmingham-Southern, Centre, Hendrix and Sewanee were represented.
