Tigers welcome Transylvania on senior night, Friday

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Jan. 26, 2017) The Sewanee swimming and diving teams will wrap up their regular season Friday evening as the Tigers host Transylvania on senior night inside the Fowler Center.

Last weekend, Sewanee returned to action with competitions against NCAA Division II No. 2 West Florida, Birmingham-Southern, and Rhodes.

Freshman Andrew Freibert topped the seven-man field against West Florida and BSC in a quick 22.69 seconds. Freibert also won the 100 Free in 49.10 seconds and the 100 Fly in 55.01 seconds.

A day later, the men's 200 Medley Relay team of Michael WhiteheadKipling KlimasAndrew Freibert, and Kyle Schnell finished with a winning time of 1:40.87 against Rhodes.

Freibert and Schnell then finished first and second in the quick 50 Free. Freibert touched the wall in 22.65 seconds while Schnell went 23.00.

In the opposite of the 50 Free, junior Meghan Mulhern won the women's 500 Free against Rhodes with a time of 5:32.72. Then in the men's 500 Free, Peter McCarthy went wire-to-wire against the Lynx winning the event at 5:19.13 over teammate Owen Pearson (5:32.44). 

Prior to the meet, Sewanee will honor seniors McCarthy, Winston Westbrook, Whitehead, Mac McNally, Emily Gay, Caty Hueske, Brooke Kasoff, and Alaina Mandel.
