SEWANEE, Tenn. (Jan. 15, 2017) – Despite strong performances on the diving board and also in multiple freestyle events, the Sewanee swimming and diving teams fell against Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes, Sunday, inside the Fowler Center pool.
Rhodes topped the Tigers in the women's competition by a score of 146-79. The Lynx then defeated the men's team by a final of 112-106.
Freibert and Schnell then finished first and second in the quick 50 Free. Freibert touched the wall in 22.65 seconds while Schnell went 23.00. Freibert won both his 50 Free events this weekend.
In the opposite of the 50 Free, junior Meghan Mulhern won the women's 500 Free with a time of 5:32.72. Mulhern also finished second in the women's 1650 Free with a time of 18:59.75.
In the diving events, freshman Noel Whitlock continued her outstanding weekend by sweeping both the one and three-meter dives. Whitlock won the 1-meter with 219.52 points and then won the 3-meter over Jessi Zahn (160.72) with a 243.52 total.
After two competitions in three days, Sewanee returns to action against Transylvania on senior day, January 27th.
