Johnston Named to All-SAA Second Team, Five Tigers Selected All-Conference

ATLANTA - The 2017 Men's Soccer All-Southern Athletic Association (SAA) postseason awards were announced Monday, and five Tigers were selected to the postseason team.

Kyle Johnston was selected as a member of the Second Team, while Johnny McNeill, Rhodes Hall, Bobby Zolper and Alpo Sipilä were selected as Honorable Mention.

Johnston recorded a career-best eight goals in his junior campaign on a .235 shot percentage. The three-time All-conference member has scored 16 career goals and six assists for 38 total points. The Sewanee, Tenn. native had three game-winning goals.

McNeill was one of three defenders named to the All-Conference Team as Honorable Mention. The Raleigh, N.C. native finished with one goal and one assist on the season.

Hall netted three goals from the back line, and netted the game-winner against Millsaps on Oct. 8, while Zolper helped Hall and McNeill with 1.56 goals against average.

Sipilä was named an honorable mention as a midfielder. The Helsinki, Finland native has been in the Tigers corner this season with his corner kicks. Thanks to his corner kicks, the sophomore recorded six assists and two goals for 10 total points.

The Tigers finished with the best seeding in the SAA Tournament since the inception of the conference in 2012, as the Tigers finished third with an 8-8 record.
