Sipilä Nets Game Winner in Sewanee’s 1-0 Shutout of Marymount

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Alpo Sipilä scored his second game-winning goal of the season as the Sewanee men's soccer team defeats Marymount on Saturday afternoon at the Monarch Soccerplex on the campus of Methodist University.

In the 27th minute, Sipilä netted his second goal of the 2017 season unassisted.

The Monarchs (0-4) out-shot the Tigers (2-2), 8-7, including 4-3 on shots on goal, but the Tigers had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-2.

Will Merriman (2-2) earned the win, playing all 90 minutes in goal, and he saved four shots.

The Tigers will wrap up the weekend in Fayetteville, N.C. with a matchup with host Methodist University on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for noon ET / 11 a.m. CT.
