Fourth Quarter Charge by Kenyon Dooms Men’s Lacrosse on the Road

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Sewanee men's lacrosse team suffered a 12-9 setback to the Lords of Kenyon College Sunday afternoon from McBride Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After Sewanee started the contest with an unassisted goal by Phillip Yonge, Kenyon scored four straight times to lead 4-1 with 5:54 left in the opening quarter.

-Trailing 6-3 with 13:43 left in the second quarter, Sewanee's Thomas Lynde responded with two goals to trail 6-5 at the intermission.

-The Tigers were able to even the score at eight goals apiece with two man-up goals in the period by Will Pratt and Cameron Acuff.

-However, three straight goals by Kenyon in the first five minutes of the fourth period was the deciding factor, as the Lords outscored the Tigers 4-1 in the final quarter.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Thomas Lynde led Sewanee with three goals and an assist.

-Ryan Stubits won 12 face offs and scooped up seven ground balls.

-Bryce Womack (1-3) saved 12 shots and forced two turnovers.

KENYON KEY STATISTICS
-Matt Pollack finished with six points with five goals and an assist.

-David Metzger (3-0) saved 10 shots in between the pipes.

UP NEXT
The Tigers are back home for a three-game homestand Wednesday night against Piedmont.
