Watters Wins 100th Game, Men’s Lacrosse Takes Care of Augustana in Home Opener

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's lacrosse team captured its first win of the 2019 season with a 16-5 victory over Augustana (Ill.) Wednesday night inside historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium. With the win, head men's lacrosse coach Marty Watters won his 100th game with the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers scored the first seven goals of the contest, with Will Pratt collecting three of them in a 25-minute span.

-Despite two goals by the Vikings late in the first half, the Tigers took an 8-2 halftime lead.

-Augustana made it a 9-4 affair with 13:04 left in the contest, but the Tigers netted five straight goals to seal the victory.

KEEPIN' IT 100
In his 12th season at the helm of the Sewanee men's lacrosse program, two-time Southern Athletic Association Coach of the Year Marty Watters won his 100th game with the program. Winning four SAA Championships and leading his team to five NCAA Tournament appearances, Watters is 100-75 all-time.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Will Pratt led all scorers with four goals and he added an assist.

-Hayden Hunt added three goals.

-Ryan Stubits scooped up 13 ground balls, and he won 16-of-21 face offs.

-Bryce Womack (1-2) saved seven shots in the first half.

AUGUSTANA KEY STATISTICS
-Matthew Lampasona scored two goals for the Vikings.

-Cameron Duffy (1-2) suffered the loss for Augustana, saving 16 shots.
