Sewanee draws No. 16 Lynchburg in the NCAA Tournament

SEWANEE, Tenn. (May 8, 2017) – After earning its third straight Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament Championships, the Sewanee men's lacrosse team drew No. 16 Lynchburg during first-round action of the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament.

The Tigers, who are 10-6 overall, will take on the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) member on May 10th at Shellenberger Field in Lynchburg, Va.

The Hornets, who are 13-6 overall, were defeated 14-9 in the ODAC Tournament Championship match against Hampden-Sydney.

This will be the third time ever that Lynchburg will host Sewanee in the NCAA Tournament. In 2015, the Hornets topped the Tigers 13-4. Sewanee also lost to Lynchburg in 2014.

Sewanee is making its fifth straight NCAA Tournament berth. All five seasons Sewanee has drawn an ODAC school. After drawing Lynchburg in 2017, 2014, and 2015, the Tigers played at Washington and Lee in 2016 and 2013.

The winner of the Sewanee/Lynchburg match will take on the winner of the York/Morrisville State contest.
