ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association has announced on Monday that three Sewanee men's basketball student-athletes have been selected to the 2019 SAA Men's Basketball All-Conference Team.
Smith leads all scorers with 20.5 points per game and leads the SAA in 3-point field goal percentage (44.4) and free throw percentage (89.7) for the Knoxville, Tenn. native.
In the national rankings, the 2018 SAA Newcomer of the Year and two-time All-SAA selection is ranked 16th in free throw percentage, 21st in total three-pointers made (88), 24th in three-point field goal percentage, 50th in points per game and 62nd in steals per game (2.14).
Caldwell's defense proved tough once again in 2019. The senior recorded 1.3 blocks per game, ranked third in the conference, as he was named to his second All-Conference Team.
The Charlotte, N.C. native, who averaged 32.5 points per game in conference play, averaged 11.9 points per game and recorded a 55.8 field goal percentage overall this season.
Buescher posted a 43.9 percent from the floor, 41.2 percent from downtown, to average 12.3 points per game. The San Antonio, Texas native, in his senior season, was selected to his first All-Conference Team.
The Tigers captured their first Southern Athletic Association Tournament Championship with a 22-6 overall record and won their first conference championship since 1997. For the first time since 1998, Sewanee will play in the NCAA Tournament, which begins Friday at Guilford.
