INDIANAPOLIS - The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced on Monday the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Bracket. The Tigers have drawn the Quakers of Guilford College in the opening round Friday night, March 1.

Sewanee will play Guilford at 7:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. CT, following the conclusion of the Emory-Wittenberg game. The second round game will be played in Greensboro on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT.

Guilford will serve as the host of the First and Second Rounds, which take place March 1 and 2.

The Quakers earned the automatic bid by winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Sewanee and Guilford have met once in the program history on a neutral site. The Quakers defeated the Tigers, 91-78, on Nov. 19, 2006.

Making their fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers are 1-6 all-time in NCAA Tournament games. This is the first trip to the Dance since 1998.

Joining Sewanee and Guilford on the other side of the regional is Emory, winners of the University Athletic Association and Wittenberg, champions of the North Coast Atlantic Conference.

The Tigers earned a spot in the field of 64 teams by winning the Southern Athletic Association Men's Basketball Tournament.

The championship provides for a 64-team tournament. Automatic qualification (AQ) is granted to 43 conference champions, which form "Pool A." One team is selected from true independents and schools from conferences that do not have an automatic bid for their champions (Pool B). The remaining 20 teams are selected from those teams in conferences with automatic bids that did not win their conference's AQ and the remaining Pool B institutions (Pool C).

More information on game time and live streaming coverage will come later in the week. Follow Sewanee Athletics online and on social media for the latest.
