DANVILLE, Ky. - The Sewanee men's basketball team's undefeated run came to an end Saturday afternoon in Alumni Gymnasium, as the Colonels of Centre had the Tigers their first loss of the season, 80-71, in overtime.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Centre got out to a 13-9 lead with 15 minutes left in the opening period, but Sewanee's offense took off, going on a 17-2 run to regain the lead, 26-15, with 8:30 left in the half.
-The Colonels would bounce back to get the deficit to a two-score possession, 39-33, at intermission.
-Centre scored five straight points in the first two minutes of the second half to make it a 39-38 deficit. However, the Tigers went on a 10-2 run in a three-minute span to push the lead back to nine, 49-40.
-With 10 minutes left in regulation, trailing 57-46, the Colonels went on a 12-0 run to retake the lead, 58-57 with seven minutes remaining.
-The teams would maintain a one-possession lead the rest of the period, but it was all knotted up at 66 points apiece at the end of regulation.
-The overtime was all Centre, however, scoring the first nine points before Sewanee scored with 1:10 left in the extra period. The home team outscored the visitors, 14-5, in the extra period.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Luke Smith tied his career-best from Wednesday's win against Emory with 27 points on 8-of-16 shooting. The sophomore also connected six straight free throw attempts.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Jacob Bates led the Colonels with 26 points and 12 boards.
The Tigers will have two more contests before final exams. Sewanee will return to the hardwood on Friday, Dec. 7 when they make a trip to Johnson in Knoxville.
