SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's basketball team defeated the Vikings of Berry College, 78-54, Sunday afternoon inside Juhan Gymnasium. Along with Centre's win over Oglethorpe, the 2018 Southern Athletic Association Tournament will come down to next Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The teams played back-and-forth for the first five minutes of the first half. Tied at nine, the Tigers went on a 14-2 run to push the lead to 19-11.
-Berry cut the deficit to three thanks to a 9-4 run, but the Tigers finished the half with another spurt and led 33-25 at the half.
-The Tigers began to pull away in the second half, as the home team outscored the Vikings, 45-29, in the final 20 minutes thanks to a 17-of-33 (52 percent) clip from the field.
-With Centre defeating Oglethorpe Sunday, 70-67, it will come down to the contest between Sewanee and Centre for the SAA Regular Season Championship. The winner will host the 2018 Tournament, beginning Friday, Feb. 23. The Tigers defeated the Colonels, 70-63, at home on Dec. 2.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Luke Smith totaled 20 points and five rebounds and assists each to lead all scorers.
-Adrian Thomas corralled nine boards in the win.
BERRY KEY STATISTICS
-Caleb Johnson scored 16 points and grabbed 11 boards to lead Berry, while Elijah Hirsh added 15 points.
-The site of the 2018 SAA Tournament will be decided on Saturday, as Sewanee travels to Centre for a 3 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. CT tip.
