Majors Stop Tigers’ Three-Game Winning Streak

JACKSON, Miss. - The Sewanee men's basketball team was unable to get the offense clicking on Friday night, as the Tigers were downed by the Majors of Millsaps, 63-50, in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Millsaps started the contest on a 9-2 run, but the Tigers tried to make a game out of it early, getting the score to within one point with 12:16 left in the half before the Majors went on a 9-0 run.

-Sewanee only scored 23 first half points, but trailed the home team by 10, 33-23, at the intermission.

-The teams played a fairly even second half, but the Tigers were able to get the deficit as low as 11 points late.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Luke Smith led all scorers with 25 points, seven rebounds and four dimes.

-Matt Lee drained three 3-pointers to finish with nine points.

-Adrian Thomas totaled eight points and grabbed 10 boards.

MILLSAPS KEY STATISTICS
-Michael Sullivan scored 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead the Majors.

-Saxton Becker added 19 points in the win.

Sewanee will wrap up the weekend road trip with Birmingham-Southern. Tip is slated for 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
