ATLANTA - Announced by the Southern Athletic Association Tuesday morning, the Sewanee field hockey team landed four student-athletes on its postseason All-Conference Team.
Caffrey entered the postseason in a three-way tie for the conference lead in goals scored. She finished her junior year with 18 goals and, thanks to two assists, finished with 38 points. Five of her 18 goals were game-winners.
The two-time All-SAA member recorded two hat tricks or better in 2018. In the opening contest of the 2018 season, the Scituate, Mass. native scored three goals, and on Sept. 22 against Converse, Caffrey scored four times.
Cleveland was a major impact of the Sewanee midfield in her freshman year. The Fort Worth, Texas native scored one goal, but her presence came on the defensive side of the ball, taking away opportunities from the opposition and giving Sewanee chances to score.
Sugar was utilized as a defender for the Tigers program in her freshman campaign. The Canton, Conn. native limited opponents to 11.8 shots per game and a .132 shooting percentage. She was also selected twice as the SAA Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 15, Oct. 29).
Young captures her third straight All-Conference bid. The McLean, Va. native assisted on one goal, and, joining Cleveland, she was a difference for the Sewanee midfield.
Sewanee finished the 2018 season with a 10-6 record, and they finished with a double-digit win total for the first time since 2015 when they won 11 contests.
