Caffrey Wins SAA Offensive Player of the Week Award

ATLANTA - Announced by the Southern Athletic Association on Monday, Sewanee forward Ceara Caffrey has been named the SAA Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week after scoring five goals on the weekend.

The Scituate, Mass. native finished the week with five goals on 21 shots for a .238 average, including a hat trick against Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.

In the season opener against OWU, the 2017 All-SAA Second Team selection netted three straight goals to help the Tigers back into a contest that saw the Battling Bishops lead 3-0 after 10 minutes of play.

On Sunday, she followed that performance up with two goals in Sewanee's 5-2 win over Eastern Mennonite.

The junior now has 28 career goals in 33 career games for Sewanee.

The Tigers will next travel to Memphis, Tenn. for a neutral site contest with Wittenberg Sunday.
