ATLANTA - Four Sewanee field hockey players were named to the All-Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Field Hockey Team. Katie Wilson was named to the First Team, while Jo Jo Young, Nikki Ereli and Ceara Caffrey were named to the Second Team.
Wilson, who was selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Senior Game earlier this season, finished her senior season with four goals and three assists. In her four-year career with the Purple and Gold, the Chapel Hill, N.C. native scored 14 career goals with nine assists for 37 points.
Young scored five points thanks to a goal and three assists. The McLean, Va. native also recorded a defensive save in 16 games this season.
Ereli was a key factor on the back line for the Tigers in 2017. The junior recorded five defensive saves, matching a career-best from a season ago. The Houston, Texas native made 13 defensive saves in 48 career games.
Caffrey had a stellar sophomore season. The Scituate, Mass. native finished the season with 13 goals and two assists for 28 total points. In Friday's first round match with Concordia Wisconsin, she recorded a hat trick en route to Sewanee's 3-1 win over the Falcons to advance in the SAA Tournament. Caffrey also recorded three game-winning goals.
The Tigers finished 8-8 and a semifinalist in the 2017 SAA Field Hockey Tournament.
