Tigers Eliminated from SAA Tourney with Loss to Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Sewanee field hockey team saw its 2017 season come to a close with a 4-0 defeat to top-seed Rhodes College on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Southern Athletic Association Field Hockey Tournament.

After a scoreless first half, Rhodes (12-4) found the back of the cage in the 37th, 44th, 45th and 60th minutes to advance to the SAA Championship.

Sewanee had three shots by Ceara Caffrey and two shots by Alex Hornsby.

The Tigers finish the season at 8-8. Head coach Laura "Mac" McIntyre, after two seasons at the helm of the field hockey program, now has a career 14-17 record.
