ATLANTA - Announced on Monday, Katya Waters was named the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Defensive Player of the Week after her performance in goal on Saturday.
In Sewanee's 6-1 win over Ferrum, the Glen Ridge, N.J. native played in all 70 minutes in goal, saving a conference-best 10 shots for the senior.
During the 2017 season, Waters leads the SAA in save percentage (.833 / 50-for-60), and she is ranked 17th in all of NCAA Division III (out of 150 players ranked) in the same category.
Waters also earned defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 11.
Waters and the rest of the Tigers return to Puett Field on Saturday, when they host Concordia Wisconsin, beginning at 12 p.m.
