Wilson, Ereli, and Young named NFHCA All-Region

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Nov. 28, 2016)  After an outstanding season and earning All-Southern Athletic Association (SAA) awards, three Sewanee field hockey student-athletes have been named to the NFHCA All-Region Team.

Junior Katie Wilson earned her third NFHCA All-Region honor with a first-team selection. Freshman Jo Jo Young and sophomore Nikki Ereli were both honor with second-team selections. 

Playing as a defender, Young started and played in all 15 matches for the Tigers. The first-year student-athlete finished with one assist and nine shots. More importantly, Young led the Sewanee defensive midfield by commanding the pace of play for the Tigers.

Along with Ereli, who started every match, the Tiger defense gave up only 1.73 goals per contest. Ereli also led the league in player defensive saves with five stops as a defender.

Wilson earned her award after being a great two-way player. The midfielder/forward finished ranked in the top-20 among all conference players in shots and defensive saves. Additionally, Wilson scored one goal and had one assist.
