Two Equestrian Riders Qualify for Zones, Hill Named Regional Champion

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee Equestrian team had two riders qualify for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association’s Regional Zone Championships with their performance at the Regional Finals at the Sewanee Equestrian Center on Friday.

Aelin Hill was selected as the Regional Champion with the victory in the Open Individual Fences at the show. In addition, she was also named the High Point Rider for the entire region, and she will compete at the Cacchione Cup and she will represent the IHSA Zone 5, Region 1.

Christopher Chin also qualified for Zones in the Walk/Trot division, earning Reserve Regional Champion honors.

Other Sewanee competitors in the Regional Show include Elizabeth Oxley, who finished fourth in the Walk/Trot/Canter, and Virginia Klemens earned seventh place in the Novice Equitation in the Flat.

As a team, Sewanee finished the 2018-19 season in third place out of 11 teams in the region.

Hill and Chin will next compete in the Zone Championship Finals, which will be held in Auburn, Ala. on March 30.
