Equestrian Shines in Weekend Home Show

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee equestrian team recorded 16 top-three finishes, and three qualified for regional competition in the Sewanee Hunt Seat Show inside the Sewanee Equestrian Center.

The show was moved to the Cumberland Plateau from Murray, Ky. due to illness with the horses at Murray State.

SATURDAY TOP PERFORMANCES
-Aelin Hill recorded two top-three finishes on Saturday. In the Open Equitation over Fences, the senior took third place in the event. Later in the Open Equitation on the Flat, Hill won the event.

-Sarah Buchholz took third in the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat, and in the Novice Equitation over Fences, the freshman won the event.

-Siena London took second place in the Intermediate Equitation over Fences and the Novice Equitation on the Flat.

-Catherine Bratton took third place in the Beginning Walk/Trot/Canter, while Reynolds Chin won the Beginning Walk/Trot.

-Sewanee was the High Point Team out of 11 teams, while Hill and Buchholz were tied for the Reserve High Point rider.

SUNDAY TOP PERFORMANCES
-Aelin Hill took second place in the Open Equitation over Fences, while Siena London finished in second in the Intermediate competition.

-Sarah Buchholz won top honors in the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat, and she took home second place in the Novice Equitation over Fences.

-Catherine Walthall and Virginia Klemens took second and third, respectively, in the Novice Equitation on the Flat.

-Elizabeth Westerfeld (Beginning Walk/Trot/Canter) and Nicole Romano (Beginning Walk/Trot) finished in third in their respective events.

-Buchholz took home the Reserve High Point Rider for the day, as the team finished as a Reserve High Point Team.

QUALIFIED FOR REGIONALS
-Three Tigers qualified for the Regional Show, which is set to happen on Friday at the Sewanee Equestrian Center.

-Virginia Klemens qualified in the Novice Equitation on the Flat, while Reynolds Chin will compete in the Beginning Walk/Trot.

-Aelin Hill qualified for the Regional Show as well in the Open Equitation over Fences.

UP NEXT
The Tigers will gear up for the Regional Championship Show this Friday at the Equestrian Center. Sewanee will have four compete at the show: Reynolds Chin, Aelin Hill, Virginia Klemens and Elizabeth Oxley.
