Tigers perform well at their first show of the spring

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 12, 2017) – The Sewanee equestrian team performed well at its first sh the MTSU IHSA Show this past weekend in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

On Saturday, Sewanee finished as the High Point Team. A day later, the Tigers were the Reserve High Point team. Individually, Aelin Hill was the high point rider in the Open Equitation Division while Delaney Evans was the high point rider on Sunday in the Novice Equitation Division. Overall, 10 programs competed in the event.


Hill led the way with a fourth-place finish in the Open Over Fences while taking third in the Open Flat. In the Open Over Fences, Buckley Wallace edged her by winning the event.

Leslie Goodman then won the Novice Flat B and Novice Over Fences while Madison Baugh took first in the Novice Flat. Also with a victory during the first day was Daniel Oakley, who won the Walk-Trot-Canter.

Additionally, Evans (3rd/Novice Over Fences), Lindsay Stevenson (4th/Novice Over Fences), Madison Wright (3rd/Walk-Trot-Canter), Elizabeth Oxley (3d Walk-Trot-Canter), Mallory Wright (2nd/Beginning Walk-Trot-Canter), and Mary Tessmann (Beginning Walk-Trot-Canter) all earned top-four finishes.


During the Hunter Seat Show, Sunday, Hill won the Open Flat while placing second in the Open Over Fences. Evans then won the Novice Flat while Oxley joined them in the winner's circle with a victory in the Walk-Trot-Canter.

Evans then took second in the Novice Over Fences while Baugh finished second in the Novice Flat.

Additionally, Goodman (Novice Over Fences), Kathryn Miller (Intermediate Flat), and Caroline Godsey (Walk-Trot) closed out Sunday with top-three finishes.

Sewanee returns to action at the Murray State IHSA Show in Murray, Ky., March 4th.
