
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Six runs in the middle innings was the deciding factor for the Sewanee baseball team, as the Tigers downed the Mountaineers of Berea, 8-0, Saturday afternoon from Riverwalk Stadium on Day 2 of the Huntingdon Firehouse Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers struck first on their first trips to the plate. After a Jared Demkowicz walk, Carter Huffman followed with a two-run shot.
-In the fourth, after back-to-back free passes by Tyler Dunbar and Max Murray, Josh Roberts moved the runners up on a sacrifice to put the runners at second and third.
-Riley Brandvold followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home Dunbar, and Wesley Christian made it a 4-0 game with an RBI single.
-Sewanee tacked on two more runs in the fifth on a two-run triple by Murray.
-The Purple and Gold then added two more runs in the sixth on back-to-back RBI hits by Demkowicz and Huffman.
-For the game, the Tigers showed great patience at the plate thanks to seven walks to go with the team's six hits.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Carter Huffman finished the day with a 2-for-4 day at the plate with a homer and a double and three RBI.
-Jared Demkowicz and Wesley Christian each contributed a hit and a run batted in during the contest.
-Dalton Buckingham (1-0) allowed three hits in five shutout innings, striking out five.
BEREA KEY STATISTICS
- Nicholas Bottom led Berea with a two-hit day and reached base in three out of four trips.
-Aaron Duncan (0-1) allowed four earned runs on three hits and walks each.
