SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee baseball team, announced by head coach David Jenkins, will host 22 games at Montgomery Field for the 2019 schedule as the program's slate of games has been announced.
Opening weekend will take place Feb. 8-10 at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. for the Huntingdon Firehouse Classic. Sewanee will face Guilford (N.C.) on that Friday before playing Berea (Ky.) the following day. The Tigers will wrap up the weekend tournament Sunday with the hosts.
Following the first weekend on the road for Sewanee, they will spend the next three weekends on the Domain. On Feb. 16-17, the Tigers will host the Highlanders of MacMurray (Ill.). The next weekend, they will play Carroll (Wis.) before wrapping up the nine-game homestand with Wittenberg (Ohio) on March 2-3.
Following a weekend series at Berry to open the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) schedule, Sewanee will be back home for the next seven games. On March 12, the Tigers will face Covenant in a Tuesday matinee. The next two days, March 13-14, Sewanee will play a mid-week series with Eureka (Ill.).
The Tigers will wrap up that homestand with an SAA series against Oglethorpe March 16-17.
Sewanee will hit the road for the next eight contests, including a two-game series at Hanover (Ind.), a conference series at Centre and a mid-week contest at Covenant.
The Purple and Gold return to the Cumberland Plateau March 30-31 with a series against Rhodes.
The Tigers will spend six of their final nine regular season games on the road, with series at Hendrix and Birmingham-Southern.
The final homestand of the schedule will take place April 13-14 against Millsaps.
The 2019 SAA Baseball Championship will take place over the next two weekends. The opening round will be April 26-28, where the top two seeds will host a double-elimination tournament. The winners of each bracket will play in the Championship Series May 3-4.
The Tigers finished the 2018 campaign with a 12-22 overall record.
