ATLANTA - Announced by the Southern Athletic Association on Thursday, the Sewanee baseball team has four represented on the 2018 Baseball All-SAA Team.
Akins finished the 2017 campaign leading the team in hitting with a .364 batting average, good for eighth in the SAA. The junior recorded 22 RBI, and he scored 22 times. Of his 48 hits, he produced nine doubles and three homers. Playing in all 34 games for Sewanee in 2018, 14 have been multi-hit performances. The Birmingham, Ala. native recorded a three-hit game three times.
Mancuso played a major role as a utility player, being the No. 1 starting pitcher in the rotation and playing first base. At the plate, he recorded a .348 batting average with two homers and 18 RBI. Tallying 10 doubles, the Mableton, Ga. native struck out just seven times in 100 plate appearances.
On the mound, the senior posted a 3-5 record with a 4.46 ERA in 11 starts. Tossing four complete games, Mancuso averaged 9.04 strikeouts per nine innings and just walked 10 batters in 74.2 innings pitched.
Holland recorded a team-best 3.40 ERA in seven starts. The freshman finished fourth in the league with the ERA mark. The Durham, N.C. native fanned 31 batters in 42.1 innings.
Demkowicz posted splits of .308/.459/.558 for Sewanee. The Grosse Pointe, Mich. native tallied six home runs, three triples and 22 RBI in 104 at bats.
