JACKSON, Miss. - Thanks to a ninth inning rally in the opening of the doubleheader plus a second shutout in the last three games, the Sewanee baseball team defeated Millsaps to sweep the series on the road, 7-5 and 2-0, Sunday from Twenty Field.

-Akins brought home his second run of the game with a base knock to center field.
-Trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth, the Majors strung three runs across to even the score at four runs apiece.
-The tie was broken in the bottom of the eighth on an Andy Page base hit.
-Down a run with three outs left, the Tigers evened the score again with a bang. Brandvold launched his third homer of the year over the left field wall.
-The next two batters, Jared Demkowicz and McNulty, reach base on a double and single, respectively. The line kept moving for Sewanee, as Akins and Mancuso each brought home a RBI to help the Tigers retake the lead, 7-5.
-Millsaps would not go away quietly in the bottom half of the ninth. They were able to load the bases and put the winning run on first base with two outs. However, the rally would fall short on a flyout.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-Sewanee broke the scoreless battle in the fifth inning. The Tigers loaded the bases thanks to singles by Drew Mancuso and Braxton Swanson and a walk by Garrett Liebe. The next batter, Jake Woolard, brought the first run home on a hit by pitch, scoring Mancuso.
-After a pitching change and a popout, Jared Demkowicz bought Swanson home on a base on balls.
-The Sewanee pitching staff combined for the shutout on five hits, with one of those hits a double.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Trey Akins went 3-for-5 with a double and drove in four RBI in game one.
-Riley Brandvold tallied two hits, with one of those the game tying home run in the opener.
-Justin Lavender earned a no decision in the opener, tossing five innings, allowing four earned runs on three hits and striking out four.
-Trey Holland (1-4) went four innings in the series finale on four hits.
-Joining Holland for the combined shutout include Will Collins and DeSantis, who earned the save.
MILLSAPS KEY STATISTICS
-Wes Lassere went 2-for-5 in the opener of the twinbill with a run scored.
-Barret Kaul went 4.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits as he did not factor in the decision.
-Jacob Mardick (2-4) allowed the game-tying and go-ahead runs in the ninth, pitching four innings of relief.
-Daniel Adams (1-3) allowed two earned on three hits in 4.1 innings in the final game of the series.
